CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) Collection Procedure

GEM Equine’s lead veterinary surgeon Georgina Parkin successfully carried out standing CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) collection by ultrasound-guided C1-C2 centesis to assist in the investigation of ataxia in an 11-year-old WB gelding.

Georgina then medicated the accessory processes of C5/6 and C6/7 (vertebrae of the neck) to alleviate pain & inflammation associated with these joints.
